Dallas, TX — On Sunday, September 3, the Cambridge Room at the House of Blues became an aerobic exercise room. As Japan’s metal idols PassCode lead a pulse-pounding sonic workout on their PassCode U.S. Tour 2023.
Before the show started, there was a diverse group of concertgoers in line from across the middle of America: fans from Chicago to San Antonio. Even one person informed us they had canceled going to a death metal concert to see this group of cute Japanese singers. It was a good choice considering this special event with PassCode was their first headlining show in the United States. Likewise, we could not pass up a chance to be there in person, too.
Regarding the four idols based out of Osaka, they have been building upon their success in Japan, including an extraordinary performance at the world-famous Nippon Budokan.
Especially for their first song, GROUNDSWELL, placing screamo vocalist Emily Arima into the spotlight. Her harsh vocals were guttural and heavy, so much so that it seemed heads would explode! During the show, she would stand on risers at the edge of the stage and tower over the audience like a metal monster.
However, vocalist Hinako Ogami was so happy that when she was not singing, the smile on her face was as wide as a Texas mile. Between songs, they would converse with the audience in Japanese and English. Hina seemed comfortable practicing her English with fans.
Notably, vocalist Nao Minami is the longest-serving member and is regarded as the leader. Moreover, her commanding performance on the stage and focused dance moves reveal her veteran skills. There was a strong look of intensity in her eyes. Getting locked in her view meant one thing—you better move your butt!
Key standout not to be missed was vocalist Kaede Takashima. Her beauty and grace were so captivating that she seemed to glide across the stage. And together with the other idols, they delivered a heart-pounding experience!
Equally important, their backing band elevated and completed the musical package with electric guitar, bass, and drums. The full force of PassCode kept one’s heart racing from a combination of high-energy tunes and going crazy for these electrifying idols.
Others have stated on social media that the New York and Los Angeles shows were as awesome as we experienced in Dallas. Let’s hope this is the beginning of many more overseas shows for these metal EDM ladies. Thank you PassCode for making us sweat!
