Japanese rock band, SCANDAL, is set to break a Guinness World Record for the longest-active female rock band with the original lineup. On August 21, 2023, they will announce the results of this achievement at Namba Hatch in Osaka, where they held their first live performance.
Back in 2006, the four girls: Haruna, Mami, Tomomi, and Rina, met at a vocal and dance school in Osaka, Japan. On weekends, they performed in public parks and clubs around Osaka until they were discovered. After they received their first record deal, they went on to release chart-topping hits such as Doll, Sakura Goodbye, and Shōjo S.
Then came international fame with their songs from popular anime like Bleach and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Spectacularly, they made their first world tour in 2015, on the “Hello World” tour selling out in Paris, London, Chicago, Los Angeles, Mexico City, and Hong Kong.
Next up, they will celebrate the longest-active female rock band with the original lineup achievement by releasing a new song. On October 4, they will release HAIRAITO NO NAKA DE BOKURA ZUTTO [ハイライトの中で僕らずっと], written by guitarist MAMI. Until then, check out GAIJIN GUY Wave’s reaction to SCANDAL’s recent song, Line of sight.
